Then Dexter: Resurrection (2025)
Scenario
Miami, 1991. When his bloodthirsty desires can no longer be ignored, young Dexter Morgan must learn to navigate his inner darkness as he goes from student to vengeful serial killer under the watchful eye of his father, Harry. Christian Slater is older than James Remar was when Dexter (2006) first aired. I am a huge Dexter fan, through and through.
Like Harry (according to Dexter), change is not easy for me
Dexter (seasons 1-8) is the only show I rewatch over and over again. So when Dexter: New Blood came out, at first the change of scenery, the coldness, the absence of some beloved cast members, and the lack of Latin humor and music were a huge disappointment for me. However, after watching it as a standalone series (without comparisons to the original), I started to like it. Now, with this new series, we are of course not used to new faces in the cast.

We all remember that young Dexter, Deb, and Harry looked different, even Laura Moser. However, I think it’s unfair to judge the cast since we’re not casting directors and producers. I think they had to consider a lot of things beyond their similar looks. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, James Remar, and the rest of the original cast could magically play younger versions of their characters, but time only moves in one direction.
(Bonus: I really like Christian Slater
He’s amazing, as usual!) So far, after watching the first episode twice, I’m enjoying it. I think everyone did a pretty good job of stepping into Dexter’s big shoes. I can’t deny that I’m even more excited to watch Dexter: Resurrection now after watching Dexter get revived in the ER. In short, I think this show is fun and I’ll probably enjoy it even more over time.
