Divine G, who was not convicted while incarcerated at Sing Sing, finds purpose by performing with other incarcerated men in a theater group in this story about perseverance, humanity, and the transformative power of art. The film features the cast trying out different parts of the play. These are actual audition tapes that are used to cast the film. The group has been criticized for not doing comedy, but their previous play was A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which is a comedy. Rating: 8.7 Overall, a powerful film that shows that inmates remain human despite their flaws, as the film uses alumni of the Sing Sing RTA program to deliver a powerful message of redemption, all led by a great performance by Colman Domingo.
